Desha County Warrant Checks
No single official page gathers every Desha County warrant record. Search ARCourts shows public case, participant, filing, charge, disposition, judgment, and future-event data for participating courts. It is a case portal, though, not a live warrant repository. For current status, the issuing clerk still has the final word.
- Gather the full name, case or citation number, issuing city, and approximate date.
- Search the public docket and narrow results by Desha County and court location.
- For circuit criminal matters, contact the Desha County Circuit Clerk.
- For traffic, ordinance, misdemeanor, or preliminary felony matters, contact Dumas or McGehee State District Court.
- If the clerk directs a service question elsewhere, call the verified sheriff or police agency.
- Request a public copy from the custodian when the online record is incomplete.
A Desha County attorney can confirm a warrant and plan a safe response. A phone call or an online screen alone never guarantees there will be no arrest.
Search ARCourts Replaced CourtConnect
The Arkansas Administrative Office of the Courts retired Public CourtConnect and replaced it with Search ARCourts. The official transition notice explains that the newer service opens public court information within Administrative Order 19 access limits. So older instructions pointing a Desha County reader only to CourtConnect are stale. Start with a case or citation number. Participant-name searches can return similar people. A name alone does not prove identity. County and court-location filters help separate Dumas, McGehee, and circuit matters. Read every later docket event, because service, recall, an appearance, or a disposition may follow an earlier warrant label.
| Search input | Best use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Case or citation number | Direct match to known paperwork | Must be typed accurately |
| Participant name | Find a case when the number is unknown | Similar names need confirmation |
| County and court | Narrow the Desha court route | Wrong location can hide the case |
| Date or event | Read the docket sequence | Online data can be delayed |
Warrants in Desha County: The Main Types
Warrant type decides which record and office matter. Arkansas courts separate arrest warrants, bench warrants, and search warrants. Citations and criminal summonses instead send a Desha County person a direction to appear, and neither begins as a custodial arrest order.
| Warrant type | How it arises | Who issues it |
|---|---|---|
| Arrest warrant | A judicial officer finds the required grounds for arrest. | Authorized judge or magistrate |
| Bench warrant | A person misses court or fails to meet a court duty. | Judge handling the case |
| Search warrant | A judge authorizes a search based on the required showing. | Authorized judicial officer |
| Failure-to-appear warrant | A required setting is missed and the court orders arrest. | Circuit or district judge |
Try "capias" as a search synonym. Courts label the same event differently. Desha County dockets mainly use failure to appear and bench warrant, so read the entry itself.
Desha County Uses Two District Departments
The 27th District administrative plan maps Desha County State District Court through Dumas and McGehee. District courts handle traffic matters, misdemeanors, local ordinances, preliminary felony matters, and civil claims within state limits. The plan also lists first appearances, arrest and search warrants, and returns as district work. Arkansas City holds the county seat. Circuit and county offices cluster there. Dumas and McGehee host the district courts. So the citation or docket names the controlling court, and sending every warrant question to one county number only wastes time.
Desha County Warrant Records: What They Show
A public docket often identifies the case and court. The warrant document may not appear. Administrative Order 19 limits some online records and identifiers in Desha County, and a missing document icon never means the warrant did not exist.
| Case or citation number | The most reliable matching key, shown here as CASE NUMBER. |
|---|---|
| Participant | The named party; identity still needs confirmation. |
| Charge or matter | The filed offense, traffic case, or ordinance issue. |
| Issuing court | The circuit division or Dumas or McGehee department. |
| Warrant event | May show issued, served, returned, recalled, or quashed. |
| Bond | Case-specific terms if public; no Desha schedule was found. |
Read the full event history. A served Desha County warrant can still lead to another court date, and a payment entry is not a recall order.
Circuit Clerk and County Clerk Differ
Kristin N. Christmas is the Desha County Circuit Clerk. The official judiciary directory lists P.O. Box 309, Arkansas City, Arkansas 71630, and 870-222-0930. That office holds circuit criminal and felony case files, judgments, filings, and circuit-court warrant or capias entries. Valerie Donaldson is the Desha County Clerk. Her office handles county administration, elections, minutes, ordinances, and other county records. It does not hold every criminal case. A district traffic docket belongs with Dumas or McGehee. A circuit criminal request belongs with the Circuit Clerk. Choosing the right office saves delay and keeps you from handing extra personal details to an office that has no use for them.
Routing rule: Choose the custodian by the issuing court, not by the fact that each office sits within Desha County.
Desha County Warrants: Who Issues, Who Serves
The issuing judge controls the legal process. The clerk keeps the court record and helps route scheduling or copy requests. Service depends on jurisdiction and assignment. In Desha County, the sheriff, Dumas Police, McGehee Police, Arkansas State Police, or another authorized agency may serve the warrant.
The roles do not merge. A police officer cannot rewrite a judge's docket status, and a payment vendor cannot recall a warrant. The process often runs: court issues warrant → clerk records the event → sheriff or police serves it → return reaches court → case continues or the warrant is recalled.

No Public Desha Warrant Roster
Desha County publishes no active-warrant list, most-wanted roster, reward list, warrant map, or public sheriff search. The sheriff directory offers contacts, not names. Third-party people-search lists cannot replace court confirmation, and their names should not be republished. The Arkansas Crime Information Center and NCIC hold restricted criminal-justice information. The ACIC FAQ says the public cannot obtain those wanted-person systems through FOIA. Search ARCourts remains the public tool for case research. It is not a statewide active-warrant database. The Arkansas criminal-history service called ARCH also excludes active warrants and traffic citation or arrest data. Its paid report cannot confirm or clear a warrant. A blank screen is never a clean result.
Handling a Desha County Warrant
Start with the exact court and case. Ask the clerk whether the warrant remains active, whether an appearance is set, whether counsel may seek recall, and whether surrender or bond is required. No Desha County surrender policy, warrant desk, bond schedule, recall fee, or amnesty program exists. Each court sets its own path.
- Preserve the case number and court-location details.
- Consult an attorney when arrest or surrender may be involved.
- Confirm status and required action with the issuing clerk.
- Use the sheriff or police channel only as the court or counsel directs.
- After acting, confirm the later docket status and next appearance.
Important: Do not appear at an unverified police location or assume an online payment automatically recalls a Desha County warrant.
In Desha County, bond hinges on the charge, custody status, judicial order, and release conditions. Posting bond closes nothing by itself. Wait until the clerk identifies the case, then ask where bond may be posted.
Dumas Warrant and Payment Routing
Dumas sits in Desha County and runs a compact docket: traffic, ordinance, misdemeanor, and related district matters. The Dumas State District Court page lists the courthouse at 149 East Waterman Street, open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a noon closure. Clerk and police contact details vary between official listings. Call ahead before you drive over. Payments run through MyFinePayment, by mail, or at the counter. Paying a fine does not by itself recall a bench warrant. If you missed a court date in Desha County, phone the court first and ask whether an appearance, recall request, bond, or some other step is still due. A payment channel taking your money only proves the funds went somewhere; it says nothing about what a judge has done with the warrant.
Warrant Record Access Under Arkansas Law
Arkansas law sets the baseline for public access. The Freedom of Information Act, including A.C.A. §25-19-105, lets you inspect and copy public records during regular business hours, subject to exceptions. You can request records in person, by phone, mail, fax, email, or another electronic method. Describe what you want clearly enough for the custodian to find it. Route circuit records to the Circuit Clerk, district matters to Dumas or McGehee, and service or return questions to the sheriff or the police custodian. If part of a file is exempt, ask for a redacted public copy. Some material stays closed no matter how the request is worded. Juvenile delinquency records, sealed files, and restricted ACIC or NCIC information are not released just because someone in Desha County files a request.
Arkansas access: Public-record rights remain subject to court rules, sealed-record limits, juvenile confidentiality, and law-enforcement database restrictions.
McGehee Warrant and Court Routing
McGehee's district court meets at the police station on Highway 65. The McGehee district-court page posts office hours, criminal and traffic sessions, and payment options, and the police-station counter takes court payments around the clock under the city's terms. None of that adds a 24-hour warrant office, surrender window, or bond desk. For a McGehee warrant or a failure-to-appear entry, call the court during its listed hours and ask what the judge requires. The clerk can sort out what you owe from what you must still do. A police desk cannot stand in for the court docket.
Desha County Warrant Status Terms
Short docket labels can mean different things in practice. Treat a Desha County status tag as a prompt for a clerk question, not a conclusion. Labels can linger after a later event has changed the case.
- Active
- The warrant remains in effect and has not been served or withdrawn.
- Served
- An agency executed the warrant; later case duties may remain.
- Return
- A record of what happened when the process was handled.
- Recalled or quashed
- The court withdrew or cancelled the warrant.
- Failure to appear
- A missed required court event that may prompt a bench warrant.
- Surety
- A person or entity responsible for a bond obligation under its terms.
No generic label substitutes for the live Desha County docket. Ask what happened after the entry, and whether another date, payment, bond term, or condition still stands.
Traffic Warrants Need Court Confirmation
The Arkansas citation query takes a name plus a citation number or other identifying details. It warns that failure to pay before court and failure to appear can bring a warrant, a license suspension, and added costs. Desha County does not appear on the eTraffic participation list. Dumas and McGehee both route payments through MyFinePayment, yet neither promises an automatic warrant recall. If a bench warrant or FTA entry already exists, call the court before you pay. The Desha County traffic warrant process keeps the citation balance, the appearance, the warrant status, and the license consequence separate. The inquiry is not a driving-record or insurance search.
City Warrant Records in Desha County
The five city pages follow the 2020 Census population order. Dumas and McGehee each have a direct district-court route. Arkansas City serves as the county-seat hub of Desha County. Mitchellville and Watson publish no municipal warrant portals of their own, so both lean on court-first county fallbacks.
Dumas
Dumas Police and Dumas State District Court anchor local traffic, ordinance, and misdemeanor routing.
McGehee
McGehee Police and its State District Court courtroom share a local police-station setting.
Arkansas City
The Circuit Clerk and sheriff make Arkansas City the main county-seat record and agency route.
Mitchellville
No separate official police, court, roster, or payment page was located; use the issuing court and county fallback.
Watson
No separate official municipal portal was located; identify Dumas, McGehee, or circuit jurisdiction from the case.
Where you live does not settle which court holds your case in Desha County. Go by the issuing city, case number, and court location shown on the record itself.
